By Both Buying and Building, ABC Supply Continues Its Aggressive Growth Plan

Most of the fastest-growing construction supply operations, such as Kodiak Building Partners and Nation’s Best Holdings, do so almost completely through acquisitions. A few others–84 Lumber most notably–prefer to do so pretty much exclusively with greenfield openings. ABC Supply is unusual in that it does both.

As the map above shows, ABC Supply has acquired 67 facilities in 18 deals since January 2020, while also opening 65 greenfield locations. Three of them were announced Aug. 15. expanding the ABC Supply logo to Enid, OK; McKinney, TX; and Brooklyn, NY.

ABC Supply’s drywall specialty unit, L&W Supply (acquired from USG Corp. in 2016), also has grown markedly since 2020. Thirteen deals have brought it 84 facilities, and the dealer has opened 16 outlets as well.
